The Department of Oral Pathology and its sister concern Oral Biology organized a national virtual webinar on “Oral Lesions - Clinicopathological approach with diagnostic algorithm” on March 17, 2022. The speaker is Prof Dr. Sarun George Varghese serving as Assistant Professor in Vinayaka Mission Medical College & Hospital, Karaikal. The speaker elaborates on the aetiology of the metabolic illness Diabetes Mellitus and its impact on the oral cavity. The oral manifestations of Diabetes Mellitus, such as xerostomia, gingivitis, periodontitis, and delayed wound healing, as well as their treatment, were thoroughly covered. The complications of Diabetes Mellitus, as well as how to prevent it, were thoroughly explored. The difference between Pre-gestational and Gestational Diabetes and its treatment and prevention were discussed by the speaker. The pictorial representation of the neuropathy, retinopathy and nephropathy were explained in such a way to remember it anytime. The webinar was attended by students and faculty from several colleges across the state. The attendees were really pleased with the substance they were given, and we received good feedback from them.
